Anyway, Mondays at our house are designated "Laundry Day" because that's all I do on Mondays. I don't like the idea of doing laundry every day for two reasons. 1. It's hard to do full loads that way and therefore it wastes water. And 2. I don't mind doing laundry, but I certainly don't love it. I only do it one day a week...unless there is some sort of emergency with any kind of bodily fluid. And with children, those happen more often than I would like. Besides, doing it all at once gives me the opportunity to sit down and fold clothes while watching a movie without feeling guilty!
Some people might call me obsessive compulsive about things I do. I have to do things in even numbers (including the number of kids I have). I have to align everything. I tuck the sheets on the bed just so on the corners EVERY DAY. I fold clothing so that it all ends up the same size. I match socks up...even all the plain white ones all three of the boys at my house wear. A new white sock can not be matched up with the old white sock...and I can tell the difference. Clothes are arranged in drawers so as to best use the space available.
I guess this is mostly why I don't mind doing laundry. Nobody else could do my laundry as perfect as I could. I'm sure that someday I'll have to give up all my quirks about laundry, but not today.
And if any of you want to cut your laundry time down, just watch and learn from this video.
Another reason I do my laundry all in one day: I actually stand a chance at having ALL the laundry clean at once...until it's time to get ready for bed and the dirty clothes go back in the laundry baskets, that is.

How lame would someone be if they watched that video 10 times, grabbed a shirt, and then tried it over and over till they got it right? Hypothetically speaking... of course...
LOL Melissa... :D
That video went so fast, I'm not sure I'm smart enough to pick it up!! Even if I watch it 10 times!!
Seriously. I love doing the laundry. It's probably my most favorite household task. Well, maybe it's a toss-up between that and fixing dinner.
Except, I like to do a batch a day. Whites on Monday, Princess' on Tuesday, towels on Wednesday, darks on Thursday, sheets on Friday, babies' stuff whenever it needs it! etc.
I get overwhelmed if I do it all in one day, cuz I tend to forget, whilst trying to keep up with twin babies.
Great post! :)
We are so alike! I only do laundry once a week too. However, my kids start doing their own around age 3, and so each kid does his/her own also, and they each have a day of the week. So, there's always a load done, but it's full, and it's that person's once a week. Make sense? I'm also OCD about folding things a certain way (and I teach the kids to the same), and matching new socks with new socks, etc. I think I have you beat though because I don't like laundry mixed up. I don't like my laundry in with the baby's laundry, or the girls' laundry in with the boys'. So, each person has his/her own basket and all clothes stay with their friends. And I've NEVER LOST A SOCK in 17 years!!!
Wow! Could you all just rub off on my just a little? I do not like to do laundry, and Jenna, how do you NOT loose socks? I just wash all the time, all the time, never ends, but I'm feeling inspired to make a change. I am OCD also, but not so much with laundry, at least not yet....
